Since completing her degree, Bridget has taken various teaching certificates and is now qualified to teach adults and post 16.

Teaching Certificate for adult and post 16 1999/2000

Bridget has taught adults and children having developed a smoke-firing course that runs as a five session evening course or a two-day course.
As a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, she has taught for Big Hand Little Hand at various schools. Smoke firing is a very enjoyable experience as the processes lend themselves to be a fun learning time for all age groups. It is a hands- on experience that gives fairly instantaneous results (there is no glaze firing involved) and it is also extremely cheap, versatile and accessible, using wood shavings, newspapers or other organic material as firing material.

Bridget taught at East Budleigh Primary School in Summer 2005 creating a tile panel made by the children using designs taken from the area around their school. The panel was on display at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen at Riverside Mill throughout the Summer.

She is open to consider other types of pottery courses as well, having run a course for teachers and classroom assistants called Mud Pies to Pots on how to use clay in the classroom. Smoke firing is also a fun process to demonstrate, which she has done during the summer at Devon Guild of Craftsmen and at various Craft events.
